Karl & Jean Schilling, Kaleido Company

The “Color Spirit” and “Theme Spirit” lines of kaleidoscopes were designed and produced by Michael Collier until a few years ago. In 2016, Karl and Jean bought these very popular lines, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to have them back! Don't let the plastic exteriors fool you, however. They're child friendly and affordable, their mandalas (interior images) are extraordinary, and their patterns do not repeat.

Karl and Jean continue to fill their oil cells with sculpted clay, flame-worked glass, beads, and other colorful bobbles which tumble slowly at random, bringing years of joy for child and adult alike. Meticulous detail goes into ensuring that his optical-grade glass mirrors provide excellent geometry to ultimately create the beautiful symmetrical patterns that unfold before your eyes.

The Schillings bring decades of kaleidoscope expertise, and are very well respected within our kaleidoscope community. So, who better to bring these terrific kaleidoscopes back into production? We sometimes refer to these kaleidoscopes as our "tweener" kaleidoscopes, as they're fantastic gifts for the kids who've outgrown our toy kaleidoscopes--or for kids of all ages, for that matter.
