This is Hiroshi Wakabayashi's music box kaleidoscope that plays 'Memory' from the musical Cats. The body of the scope is made with copper tubing and copper wire. A lightweight torched copper square base gives this kaleidoscope an antique look.
The object plate is made with brass colored epoxy and colorful glass beads, stones, shells and dichroic pieces - the same style which adorns the square base of the kaleidoscope. Hiroshi uses a 3-mirror system offering an endless field of pattern that continues up the whole tube of the kaleidoscope. The music box is activated by a hand crank which also turns the object plate creating a delight for both the eyes and ears!
8-1/2" tall with a base of 6" by 2-1/2".
