Here we present one of Roy's largest kaleidoscope with three interchangeable, independently turning wheels. The wheel facing you when you look through the eyepiece creates the foreground of the mandalas (interior images), whereas the outside wheel creates the background. By interchanging any two of the three wheels front to back, the imagery is virtually endless!
Roy employs a large range of techniques in his kaleidoscopes, including using his signature dark brass patina to resemble an antiqued finish popularized by the Victorian, "steam punk" genre. He handcrafted the unusual, decoratively shaped wheels consist of beads and baubles in orange, blue, pink, aqua, and many other colors.
This kaleidoscope rests on its custom metal stand, also created in an unusual shape. The kaleidoscope itself measures 10-1/4" long x 2-3/4" in diameter (at the wheel end). The stand is 5-1/8" long x 2-3/4" wide, the width of the third wheel. The set stands 3-1/2" tall.
