Chesnik Scopes (Artist-in-Residence)

dscn1368.jpg Jon Greene| Mashpee, Massachusetts

Since 1980, Chesnik Scopes has been credited for perfecting the wheeled kaleidoscope. This line consists of raw brass tubes with wheels of dichroic glass, Brazilian agate stone, or millifiore glass, the last of which are still made by the company founders, Janice and Ray Chesnik, Jon's mother and step-father. Each style sits on its own wooden stand or pedestal, and is available in brass-, or chrome-plated finishes that will never tarnish.

Janice's son, Jon Greene, has played an essential part of Chesnik Scopes since 1990, and he took over the business in 2007 when his folks retired. He's also our store's Artist-in-Residence and regularly demonstrates how he creates these beautiful kaleidoscopes at his workbench by our Mashpee Commons store window.

Jon has taken on quite a few corporate gifts of his line, too. Kaleidoscopes are often given as a metaphor to signify a new beginning, for instance. Jon's line appeals to both men and women,  and engraved plaques can easily be added to the wooden bases and pedestals, or those can be engraved directly. Please contact us about corporate order options available at all budgets.

Jon Greene and Chesnik Scopes were featured in the 2010 Holiday Issue of Cape Cod Life Magazine, and since then, the popularity of his kaleidoscopes continue to grow. Long a mainstay of every serious kaleidoscope collection, Chesnik Scopes make beautiful gifts for everyone you know—including yourself!
